Tearing up Behind the Camera

I couldn't have asked for a better more perfect day to photograph my very first event. Gabby had dubbed me the "Family Photographer" a title I am proud to wear!

A little back story she & Jason gave me a call shortly after asking me to do their Newborn portraits telling me they wanted me to photograph their sons Bris.  Whoa, this is big! This is such an important event in this new family's life and I wasn't sure I could do it but they had faith in me.

The ceremony was absolutely beautiful with heart felt words from JJs Aunt Stefie and a Mohel who spoke with such grace, I couldn't help but tear up behind the camera. Glasses fogging and all. We not only celebrated JJs Bris but Jason's birthday which was the day before. So much to be thankful for and I am honored to be a part of it!

All Around Adorable

I met Gabby & Jason back in February to do their Baby Bump portraits and I liked them so much that I wanted to do their Newbie portraits as well. So I hoped & I wished that I'd get that phone call when little J.J. arrived. Sure enough I did and I was ecstatic! He has the sweetest smile, a perfect nose, big feet and is all around adorable. Gabby & Jason, you guys have really out done yourselves with this little miracle.

This was my second newborn portrait session and I was pulling out all the stops. I got this most beautiful cocoon (a.k.a. photography prop) from Sugar & Spice Crochet. To die for! Got a nice black backdrop for J.J. to lay on and I was set.

I got to the house where I requested that they turn the heat up as high as they could withstand. I thought I was prepared for it but 78 degrees was whooping my butt! J.J. was comfortable and that was all that mattered. The images came out so beautiful because of it. He was quiet and calm with mommy, awake and alert with daddy...this is how he rolls! I got the privilege to capture the most tender and intimate moments of this new family, thank you for letting me document these memories.  I LOVE what I do!

PS: The 78 degree heat was so worth it! =)

So Fresh & So Modern

New Mommies, fear not! I've got the most beautiful modern birth announcements you've ever seen! I almost fainted when I saw them.

Designer Kasia from the Oh Snap! Boutique! created these one of a kind 5X7 layouts just for Lisette Torres Photography. I'm so happy to share these with you that I feel every sentence in this post needs an exclamation point! But I will try to refrain from over using them.

Here's a snazzy little slideshow I've put together to showcase the layouts, so please enjoy!

PS: New 'Grow with Me' package coming soon!

Paint the Town Red!

On a chilly Monday night in New York City, Noah and I hopped on the gritty 'R' train and headed to the Avenue of the Americas Art Gallery to join my parents, aunt and younger sister, Isabel in the opening reception of 'Artists' Eyes.' You see, Isabel was a featured artist with 2 pieces proudly on display.

The gallery quickly filled with young artists and proud parents as we stalked the gallery walls searching for Isabel's masterpieces. Her collaboration with a friend and fellow artist, Kyle of an India ink painting featuring moths in a forest was stunning and her solo black and white still life piece inspired by flowers was absolutely amazing!

Our night wouldn't be complete without a celebration. So after the show we decided to be tourists in our own city and headed to nearby Times Square! I haven't been there at night in soooo long and my son doesn't remember going at all so this was an extra special celebration! The fast walking natives VS the camera wielding tourist. I love it! The smoke stacks, the traffic, the lights, the sheep?! Yes, even sheep were in Times Square, we've got everything! There is no place like home! Hope you enjoy the photos!

I couldn't be a prouder big sister if I tried! Congratulations Isabel, on a successful gallery showing!

My Favorite piece in the show!

Oh Lisa, what can I say?

And Baby Makes 4! | Baby Bump

An old friend from high school recently got in contact with me about taking her maternity photos for baby number 2 and I couldn't tell you how happy that made me! I had to push the photo shoot back a week because I was suffering through strep throat but once I got there and saw how beautiful her baby bump was I was eager to start! While Mommy finished getting ready I started taking photos of Big Sister Elyse and Daddy (too cute). Once mommy was ready for her close up we got some great shots, enjoy!

Maddy | Birthday Girl!

On one of the nicest days this winter (jean jacket weather woohoo!), I had the pleasure of photographing a cute lil munchkin named Maddy. Mommy and Daddy were having a ball with the birthday girl at the playground, discovering how fun picking up leaves and playing in the park could be. After our shoot we were so happy to have a pizza party thanks to Godmommy, Jossie (who managed to stay out of frame)! Join us on our discovery!

So what about me?

For a while I avoided writing in my "About Me" page. I honestly didn't know what to write. Who wants to hear that I love Ghost Hunters, Jersey Shore and The Real Housewives, or what type of ice cream and candy bars I like or that I have very embarrassing childhood photos? But why not? I'd want to know if I were you!

My potential clients want to know who I am in a nutshell but I just couldn't put into words who I was. So I sat in front of my computer screen staring at the blinking line like an episode of Doogie Howser M.D. waiting for brilliance. I started typing then backspaced at least 3 times until I decided to focus on the important things in my life. Reality TV, Junk food & Family! It might be a weird trilogy but it works for me. Granted reality TV & junk food are just the tip of the ice berg, my family is the real glue that binds.

So without further a do my ABOUT ME page...and some embarrassing childhood photos. Enjoy!

Family Christmas Photos

I've been home super sick the past few days so I've decided to edit my family Christmas photos and share them with you. Every Christmas eve the entire family gathers at my grandma's house to eat & be merry. Not to mention count down till midnight so we can open our gifts! Nothing like good food & great family to make the holidays worth celebrating! Hopefully I'll be a little better tomorrow and venture out into the aftermath of the NYC Blizzard 2010 to get you some great snow photos. Enjoy!

Some how old St. Nick managed to pay my grandma's Lower East Side apartment a quick visit.

A lil sumthin' for the "Big Kids"

Overwhelmed!

Christmas with Emily!

Earlier this week I had the wonderful pleasure of photographing the cutest little princess. I started off the day with mommy picking me up at the bottom of what has to be Staten Island's biggest hill. Thank you for that! Once I got settled & had breakfast with Emily, we discussed the most important things a 14 month old has on her mind; Elmo, Zoe & Bigbird of course!

The photo shoot took place at her Auntie's house which was decorated beautifully for the holiday season. If I wasn't in the Christmas spirit before, this house filled me with it! A huge Douglas fur was dressed to the nines with twinkly lights and shiny ornaments all around. There was a fireplace in the background where the children's stockings were hung, I mean I couldn't have asked for a more perfect location.

Here are some photos of the beautiful Emily!

Just had to throw this one in for good measure. Beautiful, right?

Go Fly a Kite

Last week the family and I spent one afternoon trying to fly a kite. "Trying" being the keyword here. Of course I had my trusty camera to catch the entire thing. The wind was so forceful that it was near impossible to get it to fly high enough to be called a successful flight but it did matter. We were happy just being there, laughing at our own misfortune. Hope you like the photos!
