Let Them Eat Cake

I'm always finding a creative outlet for anything and everything. So when someone is having a baby naturally they need a diaper cake or muffin.

My love of diaper cakes started when my girlfriend Janice was pregnant with her daughter about 2 years ago. I was in charge of bringing the diaper cake to the shower but I had never made one. Like that's gonna stop me! I Googled and I YouTubed until I was certain that I could do it! The finished product was a 3 tier diaper confection with blankets and stuffed animals galore.

So why am I posting this now? Well I've got a baby shower to go to this weekend and my son's Pre-k teacher is pregnant so I bought a pack of nappies, bottles and baby toys to create a 2 tiered jungle themed diaper cake and a gender neutral diaper muffin. Here's the finished product...What do you think?

And Baby Makes 4! | Baby Bump

An old friend from high school recently got in contact with me about taking her maternity photos for baby number 2 and I couldn't tell you how happy that made me! I had to push the photo shoot back a week because I was suffering through strep throat but once I got there and saw how beautiful her baby bump was I was eager to start! While Mommy finished getting ready I started taking photos of Big Sister Elyse and Daddy (too cute). Once mommy was ready for her close up we got some great shots, enjoy!

Gabriella & Jason | Baby Bump

On a drizzly Saturday afternoon I headed over to Staten Island for a beautiful and very fun maternity shoot with Gabby & Jay. Gabby, a nurse practitioner had THE glow. You know what I'm talking about, I wrote an entire blog post about it. The stunning, show stopping glow that every pregnant woman has and every non pregnant woman wished they had. Yea, that one! During the shoot it radiated from her and instantly brightened the room, she made me forget how gloomy the day really was. What power to have! I can't forget Jay a.k.a. my second shooter! This Methodist Minister in training was super helpful, holding the reflector and directing Gabby in some of the more artistic poses. I wonder if he'd be interested in having a photography career...lol, he's got potential!

This couple was an absolute delight to work with and they let me pretty much do anything with them. Which I LOVE! Very inspiring! Can't wait to meet J.J. Enjoy your sneak peek!

This one's for you Gabby!
I couldn't let an entire blog post go by without including an important member of your family! Everyone meet Little Timmy...

Just the Right Size of Big!

I know it's only Tuesday but I can't wait for the weekend! I've got a Baby Bump shoot this Saturday and I'm so excited! I love, LOVE, LOVE maternity shoots! They just might be my favorite. There's something so beautiful about pregnant women with their bellies just the right size of BIG. The glow is not a lie people, it really does exist and it radiates from her pores and pierces through my lens, I swear!

Being a mom, I look back (almost 5 years now) to when I was pregnant with my Little Bear and apart from my last week or two of pregnancy, I truly enjoyed it. Watching my belly grow, everyday was a new adventure. Will I be able to see my feet today? How about put on my socks? Or shoes? I've got to give credit where it's due and my husband is amazing! Indulging in my every craving and even gaining a few sympathy pounds to boot--I couldn't do it without you.

I think I like Baby Bump photo shoots so much because it's documenting your life before the baby. The moments when you’re dreaming of what your little one will look like; "Will she have my eyes?" "Grandma's nose?" or "Daddy's ears?" Even the moments of doubt; "Will I ever get used to sleepless nights?" "Will I be a good parent?" The answer to both questions is YES! A thousand times YES! Believe me, all that doubt will melt away when you hold your baby for the first time.

Look at me rambling on as if I have golden words of wisdom. The point I was trying to get across was that I loved being pregnant and occasionally miss it. So I guess until baby number 2 arrives I'll live through my Baby Bump shoots.

Keep an eye out next week for the Bump photos. Until then take a look at one of my past Bump shoots!

Expecting!

Last week I had the pleasure of shooting Jezebel and her wonderful husband in Park Slope, Brooklyn for a maternity photo session. It was a cool crisp morning perfect for a fall photo shoot! On our walk to the park we chatted about the joys, fears & expectations of impending parenthood. I gave a little advice and shared a few of my mommy moments to ease their 'first time parent' jitters. These down to Earth, eco-conciense parents-to-be are going to be naturals!  They will be expecting there first bundle of joy this December. Happy and healthy pregnancy & delivery!

...I like to call the next one "Zen Mama" ...
